Selvedge Denim is the best denim fabric in the world. Selvedge (self-edge) denim is the original way of weaving denim. Selvedge is the narrow, tightly woven band on both edges of the denim fabric that prevents the edge of the denim from unravelling and shows a clean, finished look. Old shuttle looms are used to produce denim full of character, texture, unevenness, and irregularities that mass-market denim lacks. Over time it produces beautiful fades, and the more you wear it and indeed wash it, more character will come to the surface.
The selvedge advantage is that you’re getting the highest quality cotton, because the actual weaving of the denim, on a shuttle loom is intense and strong, breaking down slower than weaker yarn used in “Fast Fashion”.
